We would also like to welcome Stephany Bennett a new member of our head office team who will be a permanent full time day floater for NJC.

All of the above new personnel have been fully trained to the highest of standards.

NJC would like to congratulate Sonia Brown for her promotion from Cleaning Operative to Site Supervisor. Sonia has shown great leadership qualities which we believe will be a great asset to Not Just Cleaning and the team at Holborn Gate.

We would like to wish him all the best in this and thank him for all the hard work and commitment he has shown to both us and Land Securities in his role. We would also like to thank the team at Portman House for this honor on David’s behalf.

The importance of staff training in the cleaning industry.

Well trained cleaning staff are of paramount importance. Without them, consistently high standards will not be achieved. Moreover, compliance with health and safety, security, fire precautions and other site rules will not be attained.

It is essential that Managers and Supervisors are trained how to manage and motivate their team of subordinates to get the best from them and increase staff retention. In addition, training must be given on how to deal with difficult staff, poor performance, disciplinary and grievance procedures and other employment issues.

All cleaning staff should be thoroughly trained on cleaning methodology, product use and equipment use for best results. Poor cleaning outcomes and expensive damage to surfaces and finishes can be caused by the use of the wrong chemicals. Health and safety training must be undertaken and will include COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), manual handling, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including appropriate footwear, warning signage, electrical appliances etc.

All staff should be fully briefed on fire precautions and evacuation procedures in the event of fire in the premises. This will include pointing out the importance of signing in/out (not just for a record of attendance and time keeping!) In addition, any other site specific rules and security issues must be addressed. Staff should be made aware of the importance of wearing their staff uniform and i.d. badges at all times for security reasons.

Training staff properly costs money sufficient funds must be allocated within the cleaning budget to ensure well trained competent cleaning staff.

How to access operative training records on the online service desk

Here are step by step instructions to access cleaning operative and project operative training records and certificates using the online service desk and document management system provided by Not Just Cleaning.

Step 1 - go to http://www.dsafm.co.uk/njc_landsecurities.htm and enter your username and password. If you would like to change your username and password please email your preffered choice to rheppelthwaite@notjustcleaning.com

Step 2 - Click 'Properties' on the nav bar and then select the property where the operative works and a new dialogue box will open.

Step 3 - Click on the 'Operatives' tab at the top of the dialogue box for the property and another dialogue box will open.

Step 4 - Click on the 'Training Documents' tab at the top of the dialogue box.

Step 5 - Click on the PDF file and selcect 'Open' and the training records will open in Adobe reader.
